Aide Memoire’s Unique Ring Buying Experience

SEATTLE, USA

Inclusivity is a top priority for Aide-mémoire shop owner and jewelry designer Aran Galligan. Their new brick-and-mortar space, now open to the public in the Phinney/Greenwood (PhinneyWood) neighborhood, is a welcoming, safe place to shop for fine jewelry, including wedding and engagement rings and thoughtfully designed accessories and ceramics.

The shop’s Fit and Feel Library is unique to the wedding jewelry buying experience – it includes prototypes of Aide-mémoire’s entire collection of eco-friendly, sustainably-made engagement, wedding, and everyday-wear rings. Here, customers can try on sample styles for made-to-order rings, get pricing for different options, and even place a custom order for their engagement or wedding rings. “I wanted customers who are shopping for wedding jewelry to have a different kind of experience than you would find at the traditional jewelry store. The Fit and Feel Library gives them the freedom to try on all the styles and determine pricing without the pressure of hovering salespeople, though we are always there to help if they want it,” Galligan stated.

Apart from the Aide-mémoire fine jewelry line, Galligan’s sunlight-filled shop is sprinkled with well-considered accessories and homewares that are handcrafted, environment-forward, or socially conscious. Galligan aims to serve the community by providing the neighborhood with a shop that focuses on intentionally made items created by LGBTQ+, BIPOC, or women-led business communities. Galligan voiced, “I think it’s important for people to appreciate and enjoy the value of a truly handmade item while supporting our entire community of artists”.

A little about Aide-mémoire
Aran Galligan founded Aide-mémoire in 2012 with a commitment to handcrafting accessible fine jewelry while maintaining ethical and environmentally conscious standards.

Inspired by the spirit of the handmade, Galligan expanded Aide-mémoire in 2021 with a brick-and-mortar shop. In addition to Aide-mémoire’s fine jewelry line, the shop features creatively made and environment-forward items crafted from a diverse background of Makers, including those in the LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and women-run business communities.

The shop is located at 7003 3rd Ave NW, Seattle, WA 98117, in the Phinney/Greenwood (PhinneyWood) neighborhood. Shop hours are Wednesdays by appointment, Thursday – Friday from 1 pm – 7 pm, and Saturday from 12 pm – 6 pm.
