How did you two meet, and how long have you been together?
We’ve been together for eight incredible years now! Our story began in Nashville, Tennessee, where Bobby was finishing his Bachelor’s degree at Vanderbilt University and Grant was working at a chemistry lab on campus. We met at a café on campus—Bobby spotted Grant, and it was love at first sight (at least for Bobby!). That casual café meeting was just the start of an amazing journey together.
Tell us about your proposal.
We planned a trip to Mexico City with friends, and both of us had secretly packed engagement rings with the intent to propose! Our friend knew both of us were planning to pop the question, but they didn’t let it slip. We ended up proposing to each other at Chapultepec Castle overlooking the city. It was beyond magical and one of the most special moments of our lives.
How did you choose your wedding venue in Austin?
Funny enough, we thought we had made our venue decision until Bobby found Prospect House online. Grant was skeptical at first, but once we visited in person, we both fell head over heels. The ceremony space and stunning views of the Texas Hill Country were unbeatable! It was the perfect backdrop for our big day.
What was the inspiration behind your wedding theme?
We really wanted our wedding to reflect the beauty of Texas Hill Country, so we leaned into the rustic, natural vibe. Our floral arrangements were full of local wildflowers and succulents, perfectly complementing the venue’s minimalist design. We kept the decor simple and let the surroundings speak for themselves.
Any funny or stressful moments leading up to the wedding?
Grant was laid off in the spring before the wedding, which was stressful, but he became our full-time wedding planner while job hunting. The funny part? By the time the wedding came around, Grant had found a new job, so it all worked out in the end. We joked that wedding planning became his “side hustle” during those months!
What’s one of your favorite wedding day memories?
Right after the ceremony, we snuck away to a private room for a quiet moment with some food and a cocktail. It was supposed to be an intimate moment… until the bridesmaids started bursting in to grab their shoes! It was hilarious, and we’ll never forget hearing “Oh @#$!” every time someone walked in and realized they were interrupting.
Did you incorporate any family traditions into your day?
Absolutely! Both of us were walked down the aisle by both of our parents. We’re so grateful to have all four of them in good health and with us, supporting us every step of the way. It was important to us to honor that on our wedding day.
What advice do you have for other couples planning their wedding?
Don’t be afraid to say “No.” Weddings come with a lot of expectations from others, and it’s important to prioritize what you and your partner truly want. Having those conversations early on will make planning so much easier and help you avoid feeling overwhelmed by outside opinions.
What does marriage mean to you?
Marriage, for us, is about security and having a partner who’s there through everything. It’s knowing that no matter how tough your day was, you’ll come home to someone who thinks you’re the greatest thing ever. It’s a deep sense of love and partnership that we’re so grateful to have found in each other.
Any vendors that made your day extra special?
Our wedding coordinator was a lifesaver! They kept us sane and made sure everything ran smoothly on the day of. We couldn’t have pulled it off without their help.
