Gay DIY Mexican Wedding in Washington, USA

Queer Love in the Woods: A Beautiful Gay Wedding at Copper Creek Inn

WASHINGTON, USA

Ben and Brent’s wedding was a beautiful celebration of their love, incorporating their personalities, cultures, and natural surroundings. The couple met through an online dating app in 2015 and have been together for 7.5 years, living in various locations in the United States. They got engaged in October 2021, and after finding a venue within a month, they started planning for their small wedding.

The couple chose the Copper Creek Inn in Ashford, Washington, as their wedding venue, inspired by their spring break vacation to the area earlier in the year. The stunning views of Mount Rainier and the surrounding wilderness created a calming and beautiful setting for their wedding. The wooden elements incorporated in the wedding were a nod to Ben’s dad’s long career as a woodworker, and Brent’s Mexican culture was represented through the papeles picados hanging in the dining tent and the conchas on the dessert table.

The wedding theme and vibe focused on showcasing their queer love in a natural, beautiful way. The couple wanted to take advantage of the natural beauty of the area and incorporate their individual personalities and their life together into the wedding. The setting was reminiscent of where Ben grew up and spent his summers at a beloved summer camp. Most importantly, the couple wanted to spend quality time with their most important people, leading them to have a 65-person wedding where most guests stayed at the venue for four nights.

The wedding included many DIY projects, thanks to their artistic friends and family. Brent crafted disco ball chandeliers for the dancefloor and designed the table layouts and elements. Ben’s dad created all the display stands for the dessert table, and Brent’s friends hand-stamped the labels for the desserts.

When it came to finding the perfect outfits, Ben trusted Brent’s fashion sense, who wanted all members of both wedding parties to wear black-on-black suits. Ben’s favorite color is blue, and Brent’s favorite is black, so Ben wore a dusty blue suit jacket with a black pocket square, while Brent wore an all-black suit with a dusty blue pocket square.

The big day started early, with a sunrise photoshoot at 5 am. The ceremony took place in a clearing in the woods, with Mount Rainier providing a stunning backdrop. Brent’s best friend officiated the wedding, and the couple exchanged vows they had written themselves. Following the ceremony, the reception took place in a tent, with dinner, dancing, and speeches from their closest friends and family.

Ben and Brent’s wedding was a celebration of their love, incorporating their personalities, cultures, and natural surroundings. The couple’s love for each other was evident throughout the day, from the way they looked at each other during the ceremony to the way they danced together during the reception. Their wedding was a beautiful reminder that love knows no boundaries, and everyone deserves to celebrate their love in their own unique way.
