Scott & Tyler

ARIZONA, USA

How did you meet?

We met in 2010 the old-fashioned way before apps took over: in person at a bar. Tyler was celebrating his 21st birthday, and Scott was invited by Tyler’s roommate, who knew him through work. In the following summer months, we spent a lot of time together swimming and watching TV shows. However, neither of us was expecting to find a lifetime partner that summer, we both felt an undeniable connection and have been together ever since. We got married in San Diego in 2017 and currently live in Gilbert, AZ, with our two dogs, Dexter and Chloe.

What is your favorite memory together?

Our favorite thing to do together is travel. Our favorite memory is probably our trip to Japan in 2018, where we visited Scott’s friend who he has known since they were 8th-grade pen pals. We ate incredible food, explored many exciting Tokyo neighborhoods, and took a train to the countryside to stay at a hot springs resort (known as an “onsen”). We fell in love with the country and already have a long list of places to explore the next time we visit.

What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to overcome together?

We both feel like, in many ways we grew together into adulthood and, as a result, were challenged with maturing individually but also as a couple. Thankfully we’ve always had rock-solid communication, unconditional acceptance, and mutual respect for each other. Though we’re not immune to typical life/relationship challenges, we’ve learned to draw strength from each other and feel prepared to take on whatever life throws our way.

Tell us your favorite thing about one another.

Ty’s favorite thing about Scott is his authenticity. Scott is a real-deal, genuine person that you immediately feel comfortable around. He can express himself honestly, whether happy, sad or anything in the middle.

Scott loves Ty’s passion and creativity – he always throws himself 100% into his interests. And it doesn’t hurt that Scott gets to reap the benefits of a talented in-house chef, bartender, and musician!

What’s in the future for you both?

We’re looking forward to more international travel, as well as a change of scenery at home. We’ve lived in the same place for a long time, and we’re at the stage where we feel like switching things up. We’re not sure where we’ll end up, but we’re enjoying the process of figuring out our next chapter.
