How did you two meet?
Steve: It’s funny—I’ve always made fun of those 90 Day Fiance people who meet online and fall in love without seeing each other in person. Then it happened to me! I found Rodo online while working on a remodel in Puerto Vallarta, and after chatting for a while, we talked on the phone for 14 hours straight. That was it for me; I knew we had to meet. Fast forward to our first date—a magical sunset cruise. Rodo thought I had TV crews from 90 Day Fiance waiting to film us at the airport, but nope, just my sense of humor.
Rodo: Yep, that’s Steve for you—always a prankster! I thought he was joking until I showed up at the airport and saw no cameras. Still, it was an unforgettable first meeting, followed by an incredible night on a sailboat. Let’s just say that was the start of something amazing.
Tell us about the proposal—who popped the question?
Rodo: Oh, Steve planned the whole thing! It was New Year’s Eve, and he made sure all my family was in Puerto Vallarta with us. We were having a karaoke night, and Steve even set up a spotlight to capture the perfect moment. Right before midnight, he started singing “At Last” by Etta James, then dropped to one knee as the fireworks lit up the sky. At first, I thought he was joking, but when I saw my family in tears, I realized it was real. Of course, I said yes!
Why did you choose Puerto Vallarta for your wedding?
Steve: Puerto Vallarta is our happy place—it’s where we met and spent so much time together. The people are kind, the city is magical, and it just felt right to celebrate our love in a place that means so much to both of us.
Rodo: Plus, we have so many friends here, and it’s practically our second home. The vibe of the town is like nowhere else.
What was the theme of your wedding, and why did you choose it?
Rodo: We’re both into contemporary design, and since we own an interior design company, we knew we wanted something modern and unique. Our planner, Saulo, helped us bring that vision to life. We wanted something that we’d remember forever, and it turned out perfect.
Steve: Yeah, we wanted to reflect who we are, and that’s all about modern, stylish touches. Plus, our theme “Love is Love” was something we really wanted people to take to heart.
Were there any funny or memorable moments from the wedding?
Steve: Oh, plenty! We planned to have our dogs walk down the aisle with us, but just before we started, we realized we forgot them. So, we ran back to the beginning to get them, which had everyone laughing.
Rodo: And then there were the dancing fairies! They led our guests to the dancefloor, and it was such a fun and magical way to kick off the party.
Do you have any advice for other couples planning their weddings?
Steve: Relax and don’t sweat the small stuff! Seriously, no one will notice if something goes wrong except for you and your planner, so just enjoy the day.
Rodo: And definitely hire a great wedding planner—Saulo took care of everything and made sure we could enjoy every moment without stress.
What were some of your favorite moments from the day?
Rodo: Definitely the fireworks show! It lasted over three minutes and was perfectly synchronized to the music. Everyone was talking about how amazing it was.
Steve: I loved when the fairies led everyone to the dancefloor. It was such a magical touch, and people couldn’t stop talking about it.
What was your wedding song?
Rodo: For our walk down the aisle, we had “What a Wonderful World” and “Here and Now.” Our recessional was “Can’t Stop the Feeling” by Justin Timberlake, and for our entrance as newlyweds, we danced in to “24K Magic” by Bruno Mars. We wanted our wedding to be fun and full of energy.
What does marriage mean to you?
Steve: For us, marriage is about love and acceptance. It’s about showing the world that love knows no boundaries—whether it’s race, background, gender, or age. We hope our wedding spread a message of peace, love, and acceptance.
Rodo: Love is love, plain and simple. We all deserve love in our lives, and this day was a celebration of that.
Any last words of wisdom?
Steve: Don’t stress the details and enjoy the moments—every single one of them! You only get one wedding day, so make it count. And if something goes wrong, just laugh it off!
